Rune Wisdom
a Saturday workshop with Starweaver
August 16, 2008, $60
at Ardantane near Jemez Springs

The runes are a system of writing and magic that was used in ancient and medieval times throughout much of northern Europe. More recently, runes have experienced a revival as a popular method of divination. This one-day workshop covers the history of runes (with a sober look at some of the myths and controversies surrounding them), their symbolism, and their uses for both divination and active magic. Learn how to use the runes to reveal the potent energies at work in your life, and to tap into those energies to create change and growth.

Introduction to Qabalah
a Sunday workshop with Starweaver
August 17, 2008, $60
at Ardantane near Jemez Springs

The qabalah is a Jewish mystical tradition that has become central to European magical and occult practice and has influenced modern Paganism as well. This one-day workshop focuses on the Tree of Life, which can be seen as a basic blueprint for reality, relating abstraction and manifestation, spirit and matter, energy and structure. The focus is on the key concepts and their practical use in Pagan spiritual practice, rather than details of terminology or theology.

The Ways of Magic
a weekend workshop with InaraMichelle and Starweaver
September 13-14, 2008, $110
at Ardantane near Jemez Springs

Through magic, we transform the reality we live in. Magic is found in all times and cultures, and despite differences, there are also many common patterns, concepts and practices. This weekend workshop provides intensive hands-on instruction on the theory and practice of creating positive change by magical means. The emphasis is on ideas and techniques that allow you to create your own spells or magical workings, rather than relying on what others have done. Topics covered include magical symbolism, raising and directing energy, and magic as a tool for spiritual growth. Both planning and execution of magical work are considered in detail. The course covers astrological timing as well as the use of herbs, oils, and tools.

Science, Metaphysics, and Magick
a weekend workshop with Starweaver
October 18-19, 2008, $110
at Ardantane near Jemez Springs

The revelations of modern science often seen more "magical" and extraordinary than the strangest imaginings of our prescientific predecessors. Modern ideas like the fluidity of space and time in Relativity theory, or the interconnectedness of observation and reality in Quantum Mechanics, seem to cry out for interpretation in spiritual or occult terms. Not all approaches to connecting science and spirituality are equally credible, however. In this class, we sort though some of the scientific concepts and look at what they imply (and do not imply) about metaphysics and magick. Scientific concepts will be presented with considerable care, but the presentations are accessible to people with little or no scientific background. Creative activities, play, and discussion are used to explore and develop the key ideas.

Ardantane Samhain Ritual
Saturday, November 1, 6:00 pm
at Ardantane near Jemez Springs

All things have roots. All things grow from what has come and gone before. At Samhain, we mark the beginning of a new cycle of darkness and light as the earth plunges into winter. At this time, ancient traditions hold, the veil between the Living and the Dead, between the Seen and the Unseen, is thin and tenuous, and our spirits may pass between the worlds.

Join us for this ritual to commune with those who came before us and to celebrate and honor the deepest of Pagan sacred days, the sabbat of Samhain. This ritual is open to the public and free of charge. Dress warmly, as we will be outside. There will be a potluck feast following the ritual; bring something to share.
