This is another recipe I've been perfecting for a long, long time. The final adjustment was getting the right brand of tequila and the right brand of triple sec.

3 measures El Teso Platinum tequila
1 measure Luxardo Triple Sec
1 measure Rose's sweetened lime juice
lemon juice, to taste (try about 1 tsp)
ice

lime wedge and margarita salt, for garnish

Slit the lime wedge and run it around the rim of the margarita glass. Roll the glass through the margarita salt to decorate. Combine ingredients in the glass and fill with plenty of ice. (For a frozen margarita, combine the ingredients with the ice in a blender and blend as desired (I prefer it not totally blended, but with some chunks of ice of various sizes left).

Ingredient Corner

Many people use the golden tequila (reposado or añejo), but a good silver tequila really works much better, providing a fesh, light foil to the other ingredients. El Tesoro is by far the best in its price range. A little more expensive than Cuervo, but much, much better.

You can use any orange liqueur for the triple sec. Grand Marnier and Cointreau are popular alternatives. Despite the reputation of these, I find the Luxardo triple sec to work perfectly in this recipe. Avoid the cheap (Bols) stuff.
